| Case
Study #1 |
| History |
| The client was a manufacturer of audio/visual
equipment, selling top of the line televisions, telephones,
CD players, stereos, and speakers in more 40 countries;
these products are world renown for their craftsmanship,
design integrity, and sound quality. |
| |
| Situation |
| The client established corporate objectives
for North America that included gaining additional market
shares, increasing brand awareness, and strengthening
its position in their segment. Consistent with the global
strategy, the client company decided to focus on developing
branded stores, expanding from the current 40 to 160 by
2004. To realistically achieve the goal of 30 new stores
per year, they needed to bring a Design Director into
the fold. |

| Solution |
Gaines International was hired
to find an individual who could manage the design and
construction process - building cost effective stores,
maintaining conceptual design/prototype integrity, and
ensuring that quality is not compromised in the haste
to expand. By investigating industry trends, networking
with professional associations, researching trade publications,
and utilizing their own network, Gaines was able to define
a list of target companies and candidates. Sourcing from
these top specialty retailers, architecture firms that
focus on retail, retail construction companies, and formerly
high growth retailers whose new store development had
waned, Gaines was able to find the perfect candidate -
a woman who had directed the construction and design of
over 600 retail stores. |
