Overview:
Our client is world-renowned for its award winning hospitality interior environments including four star hotels and restaurants. Due to strategic growth and planning, the firm is creating an extended brand in the United States which includes an office in Chicago. As a critical part of this growth initiative, the firm is seeking Principal, Technical Director.
The Principal, Technical Director is responsible for the interior design concept and its continuing development through completed construction/installation. He/She may be assigned as a programmer, space planner, or interior designer on projects that are performed with the Architectural Department. The Principal, Technical Director will develop and graphically portray the total interior design concept to achieve proper balance of form, function and cost. He/She will coordinate the selection of materials, colors and finishes as well as the preparation of design studies and presentations. The Principal, Technical Director will oversee the production of documentation and presentation files. He/She will develop or direct the development of furnishings contract documents and specifications. The Principal, Technical Director will coordinate the administration of the furniture and furnishings drawings and specifications during the construction and/or installation of the project to insure conformance with the design concept. He/She will help train, develop and evaluate individual designers assigned to a project and participate in marketing/sales presentations.
Qualifications:
The candidate should have a degree in Interior Design or Architecture and be a licensed Interior Designer. He/She should have a minimum of 15 years of Interior Design experience in program development, development of furniture and furnishings, contract documents, and subsequent contract administration procedures. The successful candidate will have broad experience with a range of hotel developments from four-star to luxury residences.
