Overview:
Our client is a professional design and engineering firm that has built projects that include: corporate facilities, financial institutions, government buildings, public and private institutions, airports, cultural and performing arts facilities, convention centers, healthcare facilities, university buildings, and residential developments. The firm’s services include: site and building evaluations, feasibility studies, facilities programming and planning and conceptual design, architectural design, sustainable design, construction administration, and post-occupancy evaluations specifications. Currently, the firm is expanding its existing Interior Design practice by creating a third Interior Design Studio and therefore is in need of a Studio Head.
The Studio head will establish and lead the new Interior Design Studio in conjunction with the two current Interiors Studios. He/She will work directly with an architectural design partner in the San Francisco office and collaborate with Firm wide Interior Design leadership teams including the Partner in Charge of Interior Design located in the firm’s New York office. The Studio head will provide leadership in design, new business development and strategic planning. He/She will supervise and coordinate the work of the studio interior design team including the direction of complete design documents on all studio projects. The Studio head will deliberate with clients, consultants, contractors and others during various stages of project development. He/She will select finishes, materials, colors, furniture and fixtures and will review shop drawings and materials sample submittals for general conformance with the design intent.
Qualifications:
The candidate will have a professional degree in Architecture or equivalent of a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design. He/She should have ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in all phases of interior design and/or architecture with substantial experience in the conceptualization and delivery of successful high quality design. The candidate should have experience and an interest in focusing on owner occupied buildings such as public libraries, courthouses, art galleries and academic buildings. He/She should be creative and proficient in the application of computer software for the design, presentation and delivery of projects. The candidate should possess a thorough knowledge of interior design, delineation, detailing, materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures, code conformance, construction techniques and costs.
